Sam Houston head football coach Willie Fritz will be speaking with university alumni and friends at a special reception Tuesday, August 3 at Amerigo's Grille in The Woodlands.
Fritz, who has produced an overall record of 220 victories, 78 losses and five ties in a 28-year career as both a head coach and an assistant, was named as the 14th head football coach at Sam Houston in December.
The North Harris/Montgomery County Alumni & Friends Reception is being hosted by the SHSU Alumni Association.
A former Sam Houston assistant on championship teams in 1986 and 1991, Fritz returned to Huntsville after rolling up a 97-47 record in 13 years as head coach at the University of Central Missouri.
Fritz will speak on the Bearkats' upcoming football season which includes the "Battle of the Piney Woods" rivalry game with Stephen F. Austin to be held at Reliant Stadium in Houston this fall.
"The football staff at Sam Houston is looking forward meeting with our North Harris/Montgomery County alums and fans and having a great night talking about my favorite subject, Bearkat football," Fritz said. "The reception is scheduled just three days before our players report for preseason camp, so we will be giving fans the latest information about this year's team."
Amerigo's Grille is located at 25250 Grogans Park Drive in the Woodlands.
Tickets to the reception are $10 for Sam Houston Alumni Association members and $15 for non-members. The price includes two drink tickets and light Hors d'oeuvres. The deadline for reservations is Monday, August 2. For reservations and event details visit http://alumni.shsu.edu.
