Sam Houston's men and women will participate in their fourth cross country meet of the 2014 season Friday in Corpus Christi as the Bearkats take part in the Islanders Splash.
The Kats are one of six NCAA Division I squads running in the races. Sam Houston will be competing with Houston, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern, Texas-Pan American and host A&M-Corpus Christi.
Other squads in the meet include Angelo State, Concordia, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas A&M-International and Texas-Brownsville.
Grant Buley, Logan Terry and Karl Schreiber have led the Bearkat men in their first three meets. Buley posted Sam Houston's top times with a seventh place finish at the Houston/Houston Baptist triple-dual meet and a 35th place performance at the Texas A&M last weekend.
Terry led the Kats with a 33rd place finish at the Rice Invitational. Schreiber placed 36th at Texas A&M last weekend in his first race of the season.
Ana Moreno and Olivia Olguin have led the Bearkat women. Moreno led the team with a runner-up finish in the Houston duals and was 17th at the Rice Invitational. Olguin led Sam Houston to a sixth place finish at Texas A&M with her team best 19th place individual finish.
Following Friday's meet in Corpus Christi, the Bearkats will have one more race before the Southland Conference championships. Sam Houston cross country heads to Tuscaloosa, Alabama Friday October 17 for the Crimson Tide Classic.
The annual Southland Conference championships will be held in Natchitoches, La., on Monday, November 3.
