Led, respectively, by Ana Moreno and Colton Stoker, the Sam Houston women's team finished 15th and the men 17th at the NCAA Division I South Central Regional cross country championships hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville Friday.
Moreno placed 64th individually with a time of 22:20 in the 6,000 meter race.
Other Sam Houston places and times were Nicole Aponte 77th (22:38), Mirando Prado 81st (22:49), Olivia Olguin 83rd (22:51) and Nina Gonzales 109th (22:40). The Bearkats totaled 414 points.
The University of Arkansas won both the men's and women's championships. Dominique Scott won the individual women's title for the Razorbacks with a time of 19:44.
Twenty women's teams and 142 runners participated.
The Hogs' Stanley Kebenei won the men's 10,000 meter race with a time of 29:08. Twenty-three men's teams race with 152 runners.
Colton Stoker place 65th for Sam Houston with a time of 31:47. Other men's performances included Karl Schreiber 69th (31:40), Ryan Saam 90th (32:02), Patrick Pitts 101st (32:20), Logan Terry 105th (32:22), Evan Arambula 117 (32:51) and J. T. Bounds 146th (35:05).
