Sam Houston State plays host to Monmouth University of New Jersey in a non-conference softball doubleheader at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Bearkat Softball Complex.
The Bearkats will be looking to end a six-game losing streak. Monmouth enters the contest 1-5.
Junior shortstop Hailey Wiginton leads Sam Houston at the plate with a .365 batting average. She has produced four doubles and one triple in the Kats' 18 games so far this season.
Senior first baseman Amy Brown is hitting .326 with one double, a triple and two home runs. Sophomore outfielder Callie Wood has posted a .222 batting average.
Jessica Nicola leads Monmouth with a .365 average.
Following Wednesday's doubleheader, the Kats will host UTSA in a three-game weekend Southland Conference series at Bearkat Softball Complex.
