ARLINGTON -- The Sam Houston State volleyball season came to an end on Friday night in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-19) loss to UTA in the second round of the NIVC.
The Sam Houston State Bearkats reeled off wins in each of the final three sets to take down Houston, 3-1 (16-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-21), to advance out of the first round of the NIVC on Thursday at the College Park Center.
Volleyball earns NIVC bid
The Sam Houston State volleyball team took the first set, but the top-seeded Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks came back to take each of the next three sets and the title in the finals of the Southland Conference Tournament, winning 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-17) on Sunday afternoon at the Farris Center.
No. 2 Sam Houston State earned a trip to the Southland Conference Tournament Championship Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over No. 3 Northwestern State inside the Farris Center in Conway, Ark.
