Tim Flanders, running back from Sam Houston State, was named as NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision "Offensive Player of the Year" and joined wide receiver Richard Sincere, offensive lineman Travis Watson and safety Darnell Taylor as members of the 2011 College Sporting News "Fabulous 50" FCA All-America Team.

Flanders, Sincere, Watson and Taylor teamed to lead Sam Houston to a 14-1 record, an NCAA Division I football playoff national runner-up finish and a final No. 2 national ranking during the 2011 season.

The selection of the Bearkat quartet brings the total number of Sam Houston players who have been named to at least one All-America squad to seven.

Flanders and Taylor both have been named to five All-America squads. Watson has been selected to four, offensive lineman Chris Crockett and defensive back Dax Swanson to two and Sincere and defensive lineman J. T. Cleveland to one each.

All four players earned first team All-Southland Conference honors. Flanders was Southland Conference "Player of the Year" while Sincere and Taylor were named as league Offensive and Defensive "Players of the Year" respectively.

The 14 victories marked the most ever for a Sam Houston State football team in one season. The Bearkats were the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division I playoffs and made their first ever appearance in the national finals.
