Double-digit scoring performances from Angela Beadle and Jasmine Johnson weren't enough to hold off Wichita State as the Shockers knocked off the Bearkats 64-47 at Johnson Coliseum Thursday night.
Beadle finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season and Johnson had 12 points.
A pair of free throws by Beadle tied the game, 6-6, early in the first half before Wichita State went on a 15-2 run to take a 21-8 lead at the 10 minute mark.
The Shockers would pour it on and lead by as many as 18 points in the first half. Wichita State took a 33-18 lead into the break. The Kats turned it over 13 times, leading to 14 Shocker points. SHSU scored just one basket in the paint while Wichita State had 18 points from inside the paint.
Freshman forward Allie Decker led the Shockers with 14 points and seven rebounds. Alex Harden and Michelle Price each had 12 points.
Jazmin Wiley chipped in seven points and nine rebounds.
The Kats were able to cut down the turnovers in the second half with just five giveaways. Unfortunately SHSU was only able to shoot 25% from the field while Wichita State shot 42%.
The Bearkats will travel to Austin to face the Texas Longhorns Sunday, December 15 at 2 p.m.
