Tary Gray, from Greenville, Texas, will look to make her mark with the Bearkats as the first Texan in almost 4 years to represent the Kats.
Gray finished 21st at this year’s 2015 Teen Masters tournament and was 14th in 2014. She finished in the top third of a field of 800 in the 2015 USBC Junior Gold National Championships in Chicago and most recently 85th at the 2016 Junior Gold National Championships out of nearly 900 of this nation’s finest athletes.
“Taryn has made a name for herself in some of the nation’s largest and most prestigious youth bowling stages,” Sam Houston head coach Brad Hagen said. “She also is an outstanding student with a long list of high school achievements. Im really looking for her to develop and come in to her own this year on and off the lanes.”Gray has compiled a 3.8 grade point average and ranked among the top 10% in her class. She plans to major in criminal justice, a program at Sam Houston that is ranked among the best accredited programs in the world.
