The Sam Houston bowling program announces its second signee of the year with the addition of Hayley Connelly.
Connelly of Hazlet, New Jersey is the first ever signee from the Garden State to join the Bearkats as well as one of the most sought out bowlers in this year’s recruiting class.
“Hayley’s enthusiasm, passion, and work ethic academically a long with athletically will fit perfectly in with the dynamics and standards that this team has set in place,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “Her national competitive experience and what she demands of herself to contribute will play key roles to her success on and off the lanes.”
Connelly joins the Nationally Ranked SHSU Bowling program from Raritan High School where she has excelled in the classroom with a GPA pushing 3.7 and stands among the top of her graduating class. Along with her high school academic achievements, Connelly is a two-sport varsity athlete with Raritan and to date is one of the most decorated young ladies to come out of New Jersey.
“This is a young lady who is hungry to win, looking to make a statement, and willing to go above and beyond to do so, which makes her an excellent addition to this programs future,” Hagen said.
Along with her local achievements such as earning the high youth female high average in Monmouth County in 2015, Hayley has been participating in some of the nations largest and most prestigious youth events. The last 2 years she has participated in record fields pushing close to 900 female athletes at the USBC Junior Gold Championship as well as at the Turbo Collegiate Expo featuring a handpicked group of over a 100 top female athletes. Last summer was highlighted by a 10th place finish at the 2016 Survivor Tournament in Indianapolis Indiana in a field of 285.
