HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State Bearkats will wrap the third leg of a four-game road stretch on Wednesday when they travel to Hammond, La., to take on Southeastern Louisiana at the University Center.

Southeastern moved to 2-5 in league play last week with wins over Houston Baptist and Northwestern State, the first back-to-back wins for SLU since the 2013-14 season. The Lady Lions are led by guard Taylin Underwood who ranks second in the league in scoring with 20.1 points per game. She has scored in double figures in 17 of 18 games this season, including a pair of 30-point outings.

Underwood had scored at least 20 in four straight games, including a 32-point night against McNeese, before scoring just 11 in the win over Northwestern State on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Kats will be looking to rebound from a tough loss on Saturday at Lamar and will be searching for their first win in conference play. Rachel Harrell had a team-high 11 points against the Cardinals, hitting three of Sam Houston’s five 3-point baskets and has nailed at least one triple in each of Sam Houston’s last five games.

Southeastern owns a 22-17 advantage in the all-time series with the Bearkats despite Sam having won eight of the last nine meetings. Last year the Kats picked up a 68-61 win over the Lady Lions for its first win of the season. The lone loss in the recent Bearkat streak vs Southeastern came in 2014-15 in a narrow 78-76 defeat after the Kats had picked up three consecutive wins at the University Center.
