Kats to host Eastern Michigan in CIT

HUNTSVILLE - The matchup is set for the Bearkat men's basketball team. Sam Houston will get second round play in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament on Monday night when they welcome Eastern Michigan to Johnson Coliseum.

The Bearkats (19-14 overall) received a bye in the opening round while Eastern Michigan (22-12) knocked off Niagara on Wednesday night in opening round action.

“Anytime you have an opportunity to continue your season, it's important for the program,” said head coach Jason Hooten. “Eastern Michigan is a really good basketball program and we are excited to be hosting them here in Huntsville. We look forward to the support of the students and the Huntsville community to create a great environment for postseason basketball at Johnson Coliseum.”

Tickets will be $10 for reserved seating in Section E and $5 for general admission. 2017-18 Basketball season ticket holders have the option to purchase their same seat for the CIT game through Monday, March 19 at 3:00 p.m.

The first 250 students to Monday's game can receive free admission with their Bearkat OneCard courtesy of Hooten. Student tickets will be $5 after the first 250. Students can pick up tickets at door 26 at the Johnson Coliseum starting at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The Bearkats have played five games in the CIT, all at Johnson Coliseum. The have a record of 2-3 in the tournament, wining opening round games in 2014 (Alabama State) and 2015 (UNC-Wilmington).

The date and location of the quarterfinal matchup for the Bearkats will be determined following the conclusion of the second-round games.

The CIT uses the old NIT model in which there is no set bracket. Future round opponents are determined by the results of the previous round. All games at on-campus sites.
