VERO BEACH, Fla. – The Sam Houston State men’s golf team finished 11th overall and concluded the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational with a combined score of 871, Sunday afternoon at Quail Valley Golf Course.

The Bearkats shot 292 on the final day of the invitational, after tallying a score of 295 in round one and 284 in round two.

North Florida claimed the title with a team score of 834 and South Florida finished second shooting 835. Arkansas State took third overall with 838, followed by Memphis (860), Jacksonville (862), Michigan State (864) and Maryland (865). Notre Dame claimed eighth (866), Louisiana-Monroe finished ninth (867) and Little Rock rounded out the top 10 with a score of 870.

Holcomb fired a 72-stroke third round and led the Kats with a team-low 213 on the week. He finished the weekend in a tie for 17th. Noah Steele, who tied for 31st with a total score of 216, had an excellent round three as he shot 70 on the day. He used one birdie and one eagle to finish two-under par in the final round.

Austen Christiansen collected four birdies on the final day of competition to go along with a 76-stroke effort in round three. Jack Randle took 65th overall with 226 and freshman Grayson Blunt finished 69th with a final score of 229.
