The Bearkat soccer team has added a new player to the roster this semester with the addition of Amber Lyons. Lyons transfers to the program from North Texas where she spent a season playing for the Mean Green.

Last season Lyons appeared in eight matches for North Texas, logging 182 minutes and recording an assist. 

“I am very excited that Amber has decided to transfer into our program,” said head coach Tom Brown. “She is an excellent finisher in and around the penalty area.  She fits in with our possession style of playing and is good at keeping the ball for the team.”

Lyons, a forward Denton, Had a big season her senior year for Guyer High School. She scored 19 goals, including a school-record four in one match. She was named District 6-6A Offensive Player of the Year and was second team all-region. She played her club soccer for the Dallas Sting.

“Choosing to play soccer at SHSU has proven to be such a great decision," Lyons said. "I really enjoy the positivity, empowerment, opportunities for creativity and the communication. They strive to better the team as a whole not just a select few. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to transfer here.”

Lyons will have three years of eligibility with the Bearkats.
