CONWAY, Ark. – The Kats had a sweet finish to their weekend, clinching a series sweep over Central Arkansas on Saturday at Farris Field.
The Kats (12-14, 4-2 SLC) used multiple bats to get the win over the Bears, with catcher Bailey White notching three hits on the day with a pair of RBI.
Sophomore pitcher Annie Bailey was given the ball in the circle. Bailey pitched 4.0 innings with three hits, two runs and two strikeouts on her way to earning the win.
The Kats trailed early for the first few innings, down a couple of runs before the top of the fourth when White delivered a two out single to the left side. Three consecutive doubles followed from Kyndal Kutac, Brooke Malia and Karlee Canada, plating the Kats first three runs and gave them the lead.
Lindsey McLeod checked into the ballgame at the bottom of the fifth and would shut Central Arkansas’s offense down with two strikeouts, one hit and no runs to pick up her first save of the season.
Sam Houston plated an additional pair of runs in the top of the seventh for extra insurance. An error and infield singles from Regan Dunn and Megan McDonald led to a bases loaded situation for White. White took advantage and delivered with a two run RBI single up the middle.
The Kats will be back at the Bearkat Softball Complex this Friday to kickoff the series against Lamar. First pitch is set for 4 pm.
