Kats sign pair of prospects

HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston State head coach Ravon Justice recently added a pair of prospects – Diamond Hunter and Deondra Young - for next year's 2020-21 season as part of the early signing period.

 

Hunter is a 5-7 guard from Lee HS in Baton Rouge, La., where she averaged 21.7 points, , 1.7 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game in helping lead her prep team to the Louisiana D-II state championship. There she was named MVP of the championship game, finishing with 27 points and 12 rebounds in a win over St. Louis Catholic HS.

 

“I'm excited about adding Diamond to our Bearkat family,” Justice said. “She's a talented player whose work ethic is undeniable. She comes to us from a great family who understands the family culture we are building.”

 

Meanwhile, Young is a 6-0 forward from Bryan's Rudder High School. She and Hunter were teammates on their AAU team, Texas Phenom. Young was named the MVP of District 195-5A as a junior after averaging 23.4 points, 15.0 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game.

 

“Deondra is a great person who will bring great depth to our post position,” Justice said. “She has put in a lot of work to get herself reday for the next level. We are excited about adding her to our Bearkat family.”
