Travis Lies serves as tight end coach for the Sam Houston football program. He also works as the program's equipment coordinator.
Lies has worked the past two seasons at the University of Central Missouri after serving a four-year stint with the Kansas State University football program.
As a graduate assistant on Willie Fritz's staff at UCM, he coached the Mules' quarterbacks. He was a student assistant coach at Kansas State.
During summer 2009, Lies earned an internship with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he helped coordinate several community relations projects and the Gatorade Kids Camp.
At Kansas State, he helped with video and scouting reports and assisted in academics. He was part of the staff that went to the Texas Bowl in 2006. As a student at Kansas State, he served as a team equipment manager.
Lies is a graduate of Kansas State with his bachelors degree in marketing. The Andale, Kan., native also earned academic scholarships for his work in the classroom. He earned his master's degree in business and sports administration at Central Missouri.
