J.R. Ohr

J.R. Ohr was named as Sam Houston State Assistant Athletic Director for Development in December 2012.

In this role, Ohr works with the Bearkat Champions Fund and athletics functions throughout the year. Ohr joined the Sam Houston athletic administration staff in October 2010 as Staff Associate in Corporate Partnerships and Development.

In 2009, Ohr worked as a Development Intern for The Longhorn Foundation, the primary fundraising arm of The University of Texas' athletics department. His role primarily focused on working in the annual fund, which generated over $35 million in 2009. Aside from accepting donations, J.R. sold premium seats for baseball, men's basketball, and football, while also working in game day clubs for all three sports, and assisted with athletics luncheons & banquets throughout the year.

Ohr received his BA in Business Administration from Austin College in 2007, where he was also a 3-time Academic All-Conference quarterback for the Kangaroos. In 2009, J.R. earned his MEd in Sport Management from The University of Texas at Austin.
