San Antonio - Texas-San Antonio swept a doubleheader with the Bearkat softball team Saturday afternoon at Roadrunner Field, winning 3-2 and 7-4.
In the first game, a two-run single by second baseman Courtney Buchman drove in the go-ahead tallies for Texas-San Antonio.
The Bearkats took a two-run lead in the top of the fourth inning on a two-run homer by designated player Hillary Adams. The home run was Adams' sixth of the season. The shot scored center fielder Tori Benavidez who had singled.
San Antonio got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single by first baseman Joanne Graham.
Meme Quinn, who started and pitched four and one third innings for the Bearkats.
Sam Houston jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening inning of the second game. Benavidez singled, Adams reached on an error in left field and Cecilia Castillo doubled to score Benavidez. Tiffany Castillo's double brought in the other two runs.
Texas-San Antonio took the lead in the second inning on four unearned runs after a throwing error with two outs and the bases loaded.
Adams picked up Sam Houston's other run with an RBI single in the seventh. Haley Baros was the losing pitcher in the nightcap.
Sam Houston now stands 8-12 for the year while San Antonio upped its record to 11-8.
The Sam Houston softball team returns to Huntsville for only its second home game of the 2013 season Wednesday when they play host to Texas State.
