Tyler Sunwall joined the Sam Houston State Track & Field staff suring the 2014 season, working specifically with sprints, hurdles and relays. He helped tutor Charles White to a Southland title in the triple jump last May. Sunwall also helped coach Paula Smith and Winnie Ileso to second and third place finishes in the long jump during the 2015 indoor season.
The Woodlands High School product is a USA Track and Field level one certified coach. He has also received a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association technical coaching certification in the sprints, hurdles and relay events.
Sunwall graduate from Sam Houston in the spring of 2015 with a degree in kinesiology and a minor in biology. He transferred to Sam Houston State in 2012 and began working as a manager for the track & field team that fall. Sunwall is currently pursuing his master's in instructional leadership at Sam Houston.
Prior to coming to SHSU he served as a volunteer coach at his high school alma mater while attending Lone Star College.
He serves as an athletic student-athlete tutor for science and English.
