Andrew Pate is in his second year as Sam Houston State Athletics Media Services Coordinator and serves as the primary contact for baseball, cross country, men's golf, soccer, track & field and women's basketball.
During his first year with the Bearkats, Pate provided coveraged for Sam Houston State baseball's run to the NCAA Lafayette Regional. The Bearkats won the 2016 Southland Conference regular season and tournament title for the first time in the same season.
While with the track and field program, Pate highlighted the men's and women's indoor titles and the women's outdoor championships. As the contact for soccer, he follow the squads' first 10-win season and first trip to the league tournament championship match in a decade.
He also serves as social media manager, generating content to tell the story of the program's 17 sports teams while seeking to reach the university's 20,000-plus students, 110,000 living alumni and community supporters.
Pate came to Huntsville following a one-year stint as graduate assistant with Northwestern State where he was the primary contact for volleyball and softball. There, he served as the media host for the 2014 Southland Conference Volleyball Tournament and 2015 Southland Conference Softball Tournament.
Pate is a 2013 graduate of the University of Houston where he majored in public relations and minored in kinesiology. He is currently in the process of completing his master’s degree in sport administration from Northwestern State.
At Houston, Pate served as sports editor as well as golf and spring football beat writer for the student publication, The Daily Cougar. Upon graduation, he interned with Sam Houston State Athletics, helping provide coverage for track & field, including a pair of league titles for the women.
While with the Bearkats, he spearheaded the revitalization of the Hall of Honor portion of GoBearkats.com, as well as the compilation of all-time baseball and softball records.
Pate is the son of Robert and Marilyn, and has one sister, Allison.
