The Bearkats were the 11-seed in the 35-team field heading into Sunday’s bracket play. After a loss to LIU-Brooklyn, the Kats bounced back and beat UAB. They then wrapped up the day beating LIU-Brooklyn to finish the weekend 8-4 for the tournament.
“It was a roller coaster of a weekend and we survived it,” said head coach Brad Hagen. “This was a huge field and we were able to navigate our way through it and get some positive results.”
Individually, had top-5 finishes, with Heather Penatzer taking fourth and Madysen Keller fifth. Penatzer rolled a 209 average over five games with a team best high game of 255. Keller was right behind her, with a 208.4 average and a 221 high game.
Both Penatzer and Keller were named to the all-tournament team.
The Kats now have a quick turnaround, as they will head to Jonesboro, Arkansas for the Southland Bowling League championships.
