Robert Jordan named SHSU athletic development coordinator

Robert Jordan

Bobby Jordan serves as assistant athletic director for development for Sam Houston State University.

Jordan joined the Bearkat staff in August, 2006, as athletic development coordinator, overseeing Sam Houston State athletic marketing and development efforts along with corporate sales, ticket sales, and licensing. He was promoted to assistant athletic director for development in May, 2007.

Jordan came to Sam Houston after serving as assistant director of marketing for the Baylor University athletic department where he played an important role in the expansion of marketing athletics on campus and to new areas of the Waco community. From 2003 to 2005, Jordan worked as sales assistant and athletic assistant for events and special projects at Texas A&M.

At Texas A&M, Jordan created sales packages and helped identify potential new opportunities for athletic sponsorships. He was game manager for athletic events with attendances reaching more than 7,000 fans. He also assisted in directing NCAA regional playoff events in volleyball, soccer, and softball. Jordan is a graduate of Texas A&M, holding bachelor of science and masters in sports management.

“With the success of the Bearkat athletic program during my first season at Sam Houston, this is a great time to be building a quality marketing and development effort,” Jordan said. “People are excited about Sam Houston athletics and I appreciate Bobby Williams and the department’s confidence in the programs in place now. This is a great time to be a Bearkat.”
