Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum, the home of Sam Houston State University men's and women's basketball and volleyball, seats 6,110 fans. The arena was dedicated on Feb. 9, 1976, with a 59-54 defeat of Southwest Texas State.
A main concourse is situated below the primary seating arrangement with ramps leading to orange chairback seats.
The dome-shaped building features a maplewood playing surface lighted from a catwalk suspended 55 feet above court level.

The basketball and volleyball video boards were placed on the west wall of Johnson Coliseum prior to the 2015 fall semester. The board is 17 feet, 9.3 inches tall by 31 feet, 1.6 inches wide with a 10 mm video display. It also includes the capability for live video, sports statistics, timing and scoring information.
