Battle of the Piney Woods tickets are now on sale. Lone Star Sports & Entertainment (LSSE) along with the Houston Texans are excited to announce the ticket plans for the annual rivalry between Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin which will now be played at Reliant Stadium for the next four years starting October 23, 2010.
Follow the link above to purchase tickets. Prices range from $15 to $35 and a full break down of the prices is listed below. If you are a season ticket holder, the ticket is included in your package. Reserved seat season ticket buyers will have $35 seats. Bleacher reserved season ticket holders will receive lower corner tickets to the "Battle of the Piney Woods."
The Sam Houston State University Band will be located in Section 115. Students, Faculty & Staff may purchase tickets in any of the SHSU designated areas at the group discount rate (listed on the price sheet below). The primary student seating areas will be in Sections 110-114. Faculty/Staff may purchase tickets at the group discount rate in any designated SHSU seating area. To receive the discounted ticket rate, students, faculty & staff much purchase their tickets in person and show their current valid Bearkat OneCard at the Athletic Ticket Office at the Ron Mafrige Field House (south of Bowers Stadium) Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Battle of the Piney Woods dates back to 1923, with Sam Houston State holding a 48-34-2 edge in the series.
The Sam Houston vs. Stephen F. Austin match-up will be one of three college games hosted at Reliant Stadium by Lone Star Sports & Entertainment next season. Rice will play its home game against Texas on Saturday, September 4, and the 2010 Texas Bowl will pit teams from the Big 12 and the Big Ten against one another in late December.
