Haley Neisler, a 5-11 middle blocker from Flower Mound Marcus High School, has signed a letter-of-intent to attend Sam Houston State and play volleyball for Bearkat head coach Brenda Gray.
Neisler earned All-District 6-5A honors and was district "Offensive Player of the Year" after leading her squad to the Class 5A regional finals. She was team captain as a senior and also earned Academic All-District. She was a second team All-District selection as a junior.
Playing for Texas Advantage volleyball club in Fort Worth, she earned All Texas team special recognition from LoneStarVolleyball.com and played on a squad that finished ninth at junior Olympics.
Neisler played at Marcus High School for former Sam Houston State Bearkat volleyball play Cristie Selfridge Liles.
"We are very excited to have Haley," Gray said. She is a tremendously athletic and strong player. She is extremely agile and quick, and blocks well, playing above her actual height. Haley has improved tremendously under the coaching of one of my former players, Cristie (Selfridge) Liles, and playing the nationally known club, TAV, she will only get better and better. She is our only signee in the fall, but we expect to add one or two more players in the spring signing period to continue on our success this fall, and into us hosting the conference tournament in 2010."
