Amy Van Horn
Position: Assistant Athletic Trainer

Amy Van Horn joined the Sam Houston State University staff as assistant athletic trainer in February 2011.

Her responsibilities include the evaluation, treament and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for the baseball program.

She came to Huntsville from Abilene Christian University where she served two years as assistant athletic trainer for the sports of men's and women's cross country and track field, football, baseball and men's and women's tennis.

From January 2007 to May 2009 Van Horn was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of North Alabama. She was responsible for the sports of baseball, women's volleyball, softball, football and cheerleading.

In December 2008, Van Horn received her Masters of Arts in Human Performance and Health Promotion for the University of North Alabama.

While earning her Bachelor of Science in athletic training at Kansas State University, Van Horn served as a student athletic trainer for KSU. She worked with women's crew, equestrian, women's tennis and football.

She is a graduate of Wichita Heights High School where she also worked as a student athletic trainer.

Van Horn is a member of the National Athletic Training Association, holds Texas Licensure and Board Certification, is a member of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Education Organization) and an American Heart Associate, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

She has worked as an athletic trainer for numerous basketball, football and volleyball camps and has served on the athletic training staff for major championships such as the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field meet, UIL high school regional basketball tournaments, the Kansas Shrine Football Game and the Kansas Junior College Indoor Track and Field championships.
