In the first quarter, Richard Sincere took a snap out of the Wildcat fomation and sprinted 31 yards for a first down. It was a sing of things to come for Sincere, who had a big game in last year's Battle of the Piney Woods against SFA at Reliant Stadium.

Stephen F. Austin defeated Sam Houston State 31-28 last season before a crowd of 24,685 fans at Reliant Stadium. The crowd was the largest in the 85-year history of the rivalry and was the largest against a Football Championship Subdivision institution in both schools' histories.
