Sam Houston State will compete in next season's Astros Foundation College Classic at Minute Maid Park, the Houston Astros announced Sunday.

The field for the 14th annual event will feature six universities, which all hail from the state of Texas. Rice University and the University of Houston will make their annual appearances in the tournament and will be joined by Texas, Texas Tech, TCU and Sam Houston State.

This will mark the second time in tournament history that the field will feature all Texas teams and the first time since the inaugural tournament in 2001 (Baylor, Houston, Rice, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech).

The Bearkats will be making their first appearance in the tournament and the first of any Southland school.

The event will feature nine games at Minute Maid Park from Feb. 28-March 2, 2014.
