Running back Timothy Flanders and cornerback Bookie Sneed both have earned their third preseason All-America selections for the coming 2013 football season. has named Flanders as a first team offensive member and picked Sneed to the second team defense.

Flanders, a senior from Midwest City, Oklahoma, stands as Sam Houston’s all-time leader in rushhing (4,234 career yards) and scoring (55 touchdowns). He was named to the Sports Network first team.

Sneed, a senior from Conroe, has started 39 games, totaled 147 tackles and ranks No. 8 in SHSU career interceptions.

Flanders and Sneed also were named to the Sports Network and Phil Steele Football magazine honor squads.

Sam Houston will open its 12-game 2013 regular season football schedule Saturday Aug. 31 when the Bearkats play host to Houston Baptist.

The Kats will play seven home games at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium this season.
