Mission Statement

We will continuously strive to cultivate the highest-level training environment for our student-athlete.

We will provide these future strength coaches with the knowledge, experience and confidence to progress to their career to a higher level within the strength and conditioning field. 

We will do this by educating our interns in the classroom, providing them opportunities to earn responsibility within the department and creating a competitive training environment.

The Sam Houston State University S&C Internship Program is designed to be a mutually beneficial program for both its participants’ development in the S&C field and the Sam Houston S&C Department. 

Interns with the Sam Houston S&C Department will gain valuable Division I level experience.  Interns will be directly involved with, but not limited to the day-to-day operation of the S&C department, professional development curriculum, learning, coaching and performing techniques of our Olympic lifts, major and auxiliary movements.

Deadlines:

Fall Semester

   *It is best to inquire during the Spring Semester prior to the upcoming school year.

   Cover Letter (Letter of Interest) & Resume must be submitted no later than ONE week prior to the beginning of Fall semester. 

   Interviews will take place during the week before classes begin.  Depending on physical proximity to campus interviews may be in person or via phone.

   *First Day of Fall Semester - Fall Internship Begins


Spring Semester

   *It is best to inquire during the Fall Semester.

   Cover Letter (Letter of Interest) & Resume must be submitted before you leave campus for Winter break. The final deadline to send your information is ONE week prior to the beginning of Spring semester. 

   Interviews will take place at the end of the Fall semester or during the week before classes begin. Depending on physical proximity to campus interviews may be in person or via phone.

   *First Day of Spring Semester - Spring Internship Begins


Summer Semester

   *It is best to inquire during the Spring Semester.
