HUNTSVILLE – Lance Miles has been named to the 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

The senior is one of 11 athletes named to the Academic All-District Baseball Team District 7, which is open for nomination to Division I players from Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming.

The Woodlands product ranks second on Sam Houston in doubles (13) and is in the top-five on the team in runs scored (34), hits (56), RBIs (33), walks (20), sac bunts (7) stolen bases (8) and games started (51).

Miles has posted the team's longest reached-base streak at 25 straight games, which ended this past weekend, and leads the Bearkats in multi-RBI games with 10.

Miles, who received his bachelor's degree in general business this weekend, entered the spring semester with a 3.76 GPA after posting a perfect 4.0 GPA last fall. He is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was named First-Team Southland Conference All-Academic a season ago.
