Campbell is in his second year with the Bearkats after a five-year stint as head coach at Dodge City Community College. Last season he helped lead the Kats to their fourth 20-win season in the past five years and to the semifinals of the CIT.
In his final year with the Conquistadors he led DCCC to a record of 20-11 and a third-place finish in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference in 2016-17, which included a berth in the NJCAA Region VI Tournament. Sophomore Josh Boutte, who will also joined the Kats for the 2017-18, was selected as a first-team All-KJCCC athlete and NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American after averaging 15.8 points and 11.7 rebounds per game under the direction of Campbell.
During his time as head coach at Dodge City, Campbell amassed an overall record of 92-66 and led the 2015 squad to the NJCAA Region VI Tournament Championship game for the first time in 33 years. His teams put together three consecutive 20-win seasons and also posted the highest GPA in the league.
Before coming to Dodge City, Campbell spent six successful seasons as an assistant coach at Coffeyville Community College. While at Coffeyville, the Ravens had a combined record of 164-43. Campbell helped lead Coffeyville to four Jayhawk East conference championships in his six-year tenure and two Region VI tournament championships, while helping lead the ravens to third- and fifth-place finishes at the NJCAA National Tournament. During his six years at Coffeyville, he coached two Jayhawk East MVPs, 20 all-conference players and 11 all-region players.
Under his direction, 12 Conquistadors have signed with Division I programs with another 14 signing while at Coffeyville.
Campbell is originally from Curtis, Neb., where he attended Medicine Valley High School. He was a three-sport letter winner all four years of high school in basketball, football and track. He was also an all-state selection in basketball his junior and senior years in high school.
He played basketball for four years at Hastings College in Hastings, Neb., where he earned a bachelor's degree in 2006 in Educational Studies.
Campbell is married to the former Jessica Coombs and the couple has a son and a daughter.
