HUNTSVILLE - With just two weeks left until the 2017 season opens up, the Sam Houston State Bearkats will take the field for their second live scrimmage of fall camp on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Bowers Stadium.

The scrimmage was originally schedueld for 6 p.m., but will now get started two hours earlier. The day's format will be similar to the team's first scrimmage, mixing in special teams to approximately 70-80 full-speed plays. Last week head coach K.C. Keeler's crew made sure a plethora of players got repititions in the team's first scrimmage and are likely to use the majority of its roster on Sunday as well.

The Kats will take Monday off following the scrimmage before going back to work on Tuesday, leading up to its final scrimmage of the fall on August 17. That outing will include much of the team's gameday routine, including its pregame schedule.

Sam Houston, who is ranked No. 3 in the nation entering the year, is set to open up the 2017 season on August 27 when it hosts No. 7 Richmond at Bowers Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and will be aired live on ESPNU.
