FRISCO – After a stellar weekend at the Texas Tech Classic & Multis, senior Tyler Adams has been named the Southland Conference men’s field athlete of the week in an announcement by league officials on Wednesday.
Adams qualified for the NCAA meet and set a facility record with 6,016 points to take the heptathlon title in Lubbock over the weekend. The senior from Buffalo, Texas, racked up 6,016 points in the heptathlon, bettering his closest competition by nearly 300 points. That total is the third highest in the nation so far this season.
He finished no less than third in any of the seven events, taking first place in the long jump, high jump, 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000-meter run.
He will look to better that mark this weekend in the same location when the Bearkats return to Lubbock for the Texas Tech Open on Friday and Saturday.
