Men's Golf 1974, 1975

Antunes, a letter-winner in 1974 and 1975, was one of Sam Houston’s first golfers to earn NAIA All-America honors. He placed sixth individually in the 1975 NAIA National Championship tournament with a 292 score (only four strokes behind the winner’s total). His performance helped lead Sam Houston to a runner-up team performance, building the foundation for a Bearkat program that went on to win the NAIA championship the next four years.



Kendall Bass

Women's Track & Field 2004 2005 2006 2008

Bass stands as one of Sam Houston’s all-time top field events performers. Competing from 2004 to 2008, she led the Bearkats to three Southland Conference outdoor titles (2005, 2006 and 2008) and the indoor league championship in 2008. Bass was named as 2008 Southland Conference Outdoor Championships Outstanding Performer as a senior. She earned all-Southland honors in both the hammer and the shot put in both 2006 and 2008.



Football 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992

Harrison was the leading tackler for the Bearkat football team that brought Sam Houston its first Southland Conference championship in 1991. A four-year letterman from 1989 to 1992, Harrison was a three-time All-Southland Conference performer as a linebacker. He was the team’s tackle leader in 1990 on a squad that finished third in the Southland race. Harrison ranks seventh in Bearkat career tackles (329) and stands fifth overall in solo stops (173).



Karina Mancis

Women's Cross Country/Track & Field 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003

Mancias holds the unique honor of earning All-Southland Conference honors in three sports – cross country and both indoor and outdoor track and field. Competing from 2000 to 2003, she set a school record in the indoor 5,000 meters that stood for 12 years and an outdoor mark in the 10,000 meters that remained in the books for 11 seasons. She is one of only three Bearkat women to post top 30 performances in NCAA Cross Country regional competition.


 Yolanda Royston

Volleyball 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991

Royston ranks among the top 20 all-time leaders in kills, blocks, digs and attempts in Sam Houston volleyball history. A four-year starter from 1988 to 1991, she earned first team All-Southland honors in both 1990 and 1991 and was All-Conference Tournament in 1990. Royston led the league in blocks both those seasons on Bearkat teams that posted consecutive Southland runner-up finishes. She still holds the Sam Houston school record for most blocks (10) in a three-set mach.


Baseball 1986 1987

Sparks led the Bearkats to back-to-back Gulf Star Conference baseball titles and NCAA Division I Regional playoff appearances in 1986 and 1987. A fifth-round choice of the Brewers in 1987, he went on to an outstanding Major League Baseball career that included stints with the Angels, Tigers, Athletics and Diamond Backs. His 11-0 record on the mound in 1987 included an NCAA Regional win over Okahoma. Sparks was a member of Bearkat teams that rolled up 89 victories in his two seasons.


Men's Track & Field 2003, 2005

Wooten was a four-time gold medalist and eight-time All-Southland Conference performer for the Bearkat track team in 2003 and 2005. The sprinter was a member of squads that won the Southland Outdoor Track and Field championship in 2005 and was team runner-up in 2003. His Southland individual titles came in the 100 and 200 meters and twice on 4x100 relays. Wooten was a two-time NCAA Regional finalist and NCAA National Championships participant in 2005.
