– After claiming their fifth straight Southland Conference series win, the Sam Houston State Bearkats will embark upon defense of the Don Sanders Cup with a pair of midweek clashes with Houston beginning Tuesday night at Schroeder Park.

The Kats moved past a modest three-game losing streak over the weekend by taking two of three games from rival Stephen F. Austin, but now will look to carry that momentum into its play with the Cougars. Sam Houston swept all three games from Houston in 2017 to claim the Don Sanders Cup in its inaugural year.
