Shannon Carrico joined the Sam Houston State staff as Media Coordinator in July of 2018. She serves as the primary contact for men’s basketball, softball, women’s soccer, women’s golf and women’s tennis.
Carrico came to Sam Houston State from Missouri State University, where she earned her master’s degree in Sport Management while serving as a graduate assistant from 2016 to 2018. She served as the primary media contact for softball, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, as well as field hockey. She also assisted with day-to-day responsibilities for the Bears’ 16 NCAA sports.
Between her first and second year at MSU, she gained conference office experience and spent the summer of 2017 as a communications fellow with The Ivy League in Princeton, N.J.
Prior to her two-year stint in Missouri, Carrico was a sports information student assistant for the Texas State Bobcats as an undergraduate. She assisted with everyday operations for the university’s 14 sports and supervised the press box at home events for softball and soccer.
Originally from San Angelo, Texas, she earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas State in Mass Communication with a concentration in Electronic Media in May of 2016.
