HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State Bearkats will play their second and final fall exhibition game on Friday when they host the Rice Owls at Don Sanders Stadium.
The Kats played their first exhibition of the fall on Oct. 5 at Texas A&M, but will now play host to the Owls, who are entering their first season under new head coach Matt Bragga. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at The Don.
Gates will open up at 4:30 p.m. with free admission for the scheduled 12-inning affair. Concessions will not be open, but coolers will be allowed to be brought in; however, bringing alcoholic beverages will not be permitted.
The Kats claimed their sixth Southland Conference title in program history last year, finishing 39-20 overall. They return 20 letter winners from last year’s team, including all-Southland choices Hayden Wesneski and Hunter Hearn. In all, the Kats return nine pitchers and 11 position players.
