HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston State Bearkat head coach Ravon Justice made her first addition for next season recently, signing guard Rahmena Henderson to a National Letter of Intent.

Henderson, a 5-10 guard from Neptune, N.J. (St. John Vainney HS) is entering her senior season after a junior year that saw her average 5.4 points and 1.1 rebounds as SJV’s first option off the bench for one of the top teams in the state of New Jersey.

“We are excited to have Rahmena join our program,” Justice said regarding Henderson. “She will be able to contribute to our style of play with her ability to play at our pace and basketball IQ. Rahmena’s success in high school is the winning mentality we want here at Sam.”

A projected starter as a senior, Henderson has three other teammates who have signed with Division I programs. Last season she helped lead her prep squad to a 24-3 record and a semifinals appearance in the New Jersey Tournament of Champions.

She hit double figures in scoring three times, including a season-high 11 points vs Matawan, and also had 10 points in the TOC semifinals against St. Rose.

Additionally, she also played on the AAU circuit on one of the top teams in New York – NYC Exodus EYBL.
