Well this one was a long time coming. After several close calls in his Bearkat career, senior William Holcomb won his first collegiate tournament on Tuesday at the Bentwater Intercollegiate.
In the process, Holcomb helped the Bearkats to a team tile at their fall home event at Bentwater Country Club in Montgomery.
The Kats had to rally from behind on the back nine to win the title. They entered the day in third place, and trailed Abilene Christian by as much as seven strokes with nine holes left to play. The Kats played the back nine at even par, eight shots better than ACU to take the title by two shots.

For Holcomb, he also closed the tournament strong, playing the last seven holes at 3-under par to win the individual medalist title by just one shot. For the day he shot a 4-under 68, the low round of the tournament for the Bearkats, and was 6-under for the three rounds.

Noah Steele also continued his strong play this season, recording his fourth top-5 finish of the season with a three-round total of 2-under to take fourth place. Just about the only blemish on the scorecard for Steele was back to back double bogeys in round 2. He was even par to start the day and moved up six spots on Tuesday.
Jack Randle made a big move on Tuesday as well after shooting a 73, to climb seven spots to No. 16. The sophomore played the back nine at 1-under par.
