The Sam Houston men’s golf team added two new golfers to next year’s squad with the signings of Will Horn and Nathan Weber.
Horn, from Rockwall, is ranked No. 13 in Texas on Junior Golf Scoreboard. Weber, from Frisco, has posted some big finishes in several junior amateur events.
“This is a great day for our program,” said head coach Brandt Kieschnick. “We are very fortunate to have Will and Nathan join our family and help us continue to win championships. Our program is built on high-character players who strive to win and grow as men. We couldn’t be more excited about these two. They’re winners and they fit our pillars to excel of our program: humble, hard-working, wise, disciplined and team players.”
Hornfinished fourth in the prestigious 2019 FCG Callaway World Championship-World Series firing 66-72-69 and claimed a runner-up finish in the 2019 NTPGA All-American Tour Winter Showcase with rounds of 73-70. He was fourth at the 2019 Legends Junior Tour Collegiate Showcase firing 70-72-74 and took 10th at the 2019 Texas-Oklahoma Junior with rounds of 76-75-78.
“Will is our kind of player,” Kieschnick said. “He is very hard-working, has great talent, and wise beyond his years. Will is very consistent which is why he is highly ranked in Texas.”
Weber finished third at the 2019 AJGA Gateway Mortgage Group Tulsa Junior firing 70-75-71 and was seventh at the 2019 AJGA Under Armour/Jordan Spieth Championship with rounds of 69-71-73. He placed 16th at the 2019 AJGA Folds of Honor Championship with rounds of 73-78-78 and had seventh-place finish at the 2019 NTPGA All-American Tour Spring Break Open firing 74-78.
“Nathan is another work-horse and a competitor,” Kieschnick said. “He came on strong this summer and had a chance to win two big AJGA events. He’s got the mindset we’ve built our program on, he loves to compete, loves to grow, and wants to get better every day.”
