The Sports Medicine program at Sam Houston State University seeks to provide the finest preventative education, medical care and physical rehabilitation possible for all Bearkat student-athletes. Head athletic trainer Hope Parker administers all areas of training and conditioning to enhance athletic performance and injury prevention for each of Sam Houston State's 17 intercollegiate sports. The sports medicine staff provides the best in care for Bearkat student-athletes while providing a hands-on educational program for athletic training students. The sports medicine program is housed in three modern training rooms, one each in the Ron Mafrige Field House at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium, the baseball/softball field house at Don Sanders Stadium and the training facility in Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum. The training rooms have the staff and facilities to accomodate several student-athletes at once with a wide range of equipment capable of meeting the needs to treat almost any injury.
