SPRINGVILLE, Utah – Continuing the Sam Houston State women’s golf team’s success, junior Hanna Alberto was runner-up and led the Bearkats to a third-place finish at the 2018 Hobble Creek Fall Classic, Tuesday afternoon at Hobble Creek Golf Course.

Tulsa claimed the tournament crown with a score of 877 while tournament host Utah Valley took second with 879. The Bearkats tallied a score of 890 for a third-place finish, followed by Southern Utah (891), Northern Arizona (893), Boise State (893), Hawaii (896), Northern Colorado (901), Incarnate Word (908), TR Rio Grande Valley (918), CSUN (922) and North Dakota (923).

Alberto, who fired off a pair of 68-stroke rounds yesterday, shot 75 on the final day of the tournament for a combined score of 211 – just one stroke behind Southern Utah’s Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan. She ranked third in par four and par five scoring and racked up 10 birdies over the course of the tournament.

Freshman Kenlie Barrett was the second-highest finisher for SHSU and brought in a total score of 224. The newcomer tied 18th overall after shooting 74 in the final round. Tori Gatling and Jenna Phillips both shot 76 on day two.
