COLLEGE STATION – The Sam Houston State men and women’s cross country programs will send seven athletes each to compete in the NCAA South Central Region Meet on Friday at the Dale Watts Course.
Sam Houston looks to rebound after a challenging outing at the Southland Conference Championships two weeks ago in Abilene. The men secured sixth place while the women finished eighth. Hernandez paced the men to take 13th (25:09.3) in the 8K while Hannah Tarrant went 28th (22:36.3) in the 6K.
The top two teams and the first four finishers in the race not associated with those two teams will advance to the NCAA Championships, held Nov. 18 in Louisville.
Head coach Jesse Parker on gearing up for the NCAA South Central Regionals…
“The regional meet is a great opportunity for us to see how we compete against some high level teams outside of our conference. This will be the deepest and toughest race the athletes have been in all season, and the expectation is for us to raise our level of performance.”
