SPRINGVILLE, Utah – Junior Hanna Alberto leads the Sam Houston State women’s golf team and sits in first place thanks to two 68-stroke performances on day one of the Hobble Creek Fall Classic in Springville, Utah.

The Bearkats shot 298 and finished round one in fifth place but used a 291 second-round performance to move up to fourth. Northern Arizona leads the field with 585 while Tulsa and host Utah Valley sit in a two-way tie for second with a total of 587.

Sam Houston State sits fourth with 589 followed by Southern Utah (589), Boise State (599), Hawaii (601), Northern Colorado (602), Incarnate Word (607), CSUN (611), UT Rio Grande Valley (613) and North Dakota (622).

Through two rounds, Alberto leads the field shooting six strokes under par. She leads all golfers with eight birdies and paces the pack in par three and four scoring and sits second in par five attempts.

Kenlie Barrett and Kari Bush were the other Bearkats to finish in the top 25. Barrett, a freshman, ties for 20th overall with a score of 150 while Bush is tied for 24th.
