VALENTINE, Neb. - The Sam Houston State men’s golf team posted another strong showing during the early goings of the 2019-20 season with a runner-up finish at the Prairie Club Invitational hosted by Nebraska and South Dakota Sunday and Monday.

The Bearkats, who won the Sam Hall Intercollegiate in Mississippi earlier this month, shot rounds of 293-296-302 for a total of 15-over 891 in the seven-team field. Missouri finished first at 871 (5-under) followed by SHSU, South Dakota State (894), Northern Illinois (895), Central Florida and Nebraska (901) and South Alabama (913).

Senior William Holcomb tied for fourth in the individual standings. He finished at 1-under 218 after shooting rounds of 73-72-73 on the par-73, 7,369-yard Dunes Course

Senior Noah Steele and sophomore Grayson Blunt tied for sixth at 3-over 222. Steele shot rounds of 71-75-76, and Blunt went 74-71-77.

Sophomore Jack Randle tied for 26th at 11-over 230 with rounds of 76-78-76, and freshman Ting-Wei Hsieh finished in a tie for 35th at 15-over 234 with rounds of 75-78-81.

Sam Houston State returns home to host the Bentwater Intercollegiate at Bentwater Country Club in Montgomery Oct. 7-8.
