HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston State head volleyball coach Brenda Gray announced the signing of Coppell High School’s Breanne Chausse to a national letter of intent on Wednesday.
“We were looking for a right side and Breanne was someone who who fit what we wanted,” Gray said. “With her being a lefty who can hit from the right side, she has the potential to be a dominant player.”
Chausse suited up for the No. 2 team in the state in Texas Class 6A, helping lead the Cowgirls to a 38-4 record this season and a berth in the Class 6A, Region 2 quarterfinals. She was both a first-team all-district and academic all-district choice as both a sophomore and a junior.
“She brings so much fire and enthusiasm that it is contagious,” Gray said. “She’s a terminator form the right side and that is something we need. She’s very bright academically, but really does have a fire that I want playing for me. She reminds us of Brooke (White) in that she is an easy jumper. She plays bigger than her size and will be an outstanding player for us.”
She was named offensive MVP of the district in 2016 and most recently in 2017 as she led Coppell claim an undefeated district title. Chausse was also named MVP of the Mansfield ISD Sunrise Rotary Tournament earlier this season in addition to being named to the all-tournament team at multiple other events over the past two seasons.
