Blanco -- Sam Houston State's women's golf team stands in fifth place after 36 holes of the 2012 Southland Conference Championships.

The 54-hole, three-day event is being played on the par 72, 5,968-yard course at Vaaler Creek Golf Club.

UTSA holds the second round lead with a 595 team total. Texas State is two strokes behind at 598. Central Arkansas stands third at 612, followed by Lamar 617, SHSU 619, A&M-Corpus Christi 633, McNeese State 664 and Stephen F. Austin 669.

Shannon Jungman of UTSA is the tournament individual medalist leader with a one-under 70-73--143.

Shelby Hardy is the top Bearkat golfer standing in eighth place with a 77-74--151 card. Meghan Musk 76-78--154 and Jackie Smith 80-74--154 are tied for 11th. Jessica Borth ranks 25th with a 79-81--160 and Jenna Stene stands 32nd with a 83-83--166.
