A few thousand tickets still remain for walk-up sales Saturday at the annual rivalry battle between Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin.
Tickets range from $15 to $35. The box offices at Reliant Stadium will open at 12 noon for walk-up sales and gates will open to enter the stadium at 12:30 p.m.
Bearkat fans can avoid the lines by ordering online at www.gobearkats.com/tickets if the order is placed before 12 midnight Friday night.
"The Bearkats need as many fans wearing orange as we can pack into Reliant," Sam Houston head football coach Willie Fritz said. "The atmosphere for last year's game was one of the best ever for Sam Houston football. We need our fans there cheering us on. It's a day fans won't want to miss."
A total of 24,564 fans packed into the lower bowl of Reliant Stadium last year for a 31-28 thriller won by SFA. This year, Sam Houston comes into the unbeaten (4-0) and ranked No. 11 in NCAA Division I FCS football. The Kats' record marks only the sixth time in the rivalry's history one of the teams has come into the game undefeated.
Parking lots at Reliant Stadium will open at 10 a.m. All Sam Houston fans are asked to enter off Kirby Drive. Parking is $15 for each reserved parking space. The SHSU Tailgate will take place in Blue Lot 22.
Will Call for Sam Houston State tickets is at the Ford Box Office in front of the BudLight Plaza.
For fans planning to set up their own tailgates, H-E-B will sponsor a Tailgater of the Game contest. Judges will be looking for the tailgate which best exemplifies team spirit, great food, originality and hospitality while making the best use of H-E-B products. The winning tailgate will be recognized during the game on the video board and will win an H-E-B gift card.
No decision has been made regarding the status of Reliant Stadium's retractable roof, but the Houston Texans' "50-80 Rule" will apply for this game. The 50-80 Rule states that if the temperature at kickoff is below 50 degrees Fahrenheit or above 80, the roof will be closed for fan comfort. If the temperature is between 50 and 80, the decision will be made before 11:45 a.m. on game day.
Currently, the forecast for Saturday calls for a high of 87 with a 30 percent chance of rain. If the roof is open, the referee has sole discretion to close it during the game. Within the last two minutes of the game, the roof must remain in its current state until the game ends.
