The eight-yard touchdown by Sam Houston running back Tim Flanders in the third quarter of the Bearkats' 45-10 victory over Stephen F. Austin at Reliant Stadium has become a national sensation.

Dubbed "The Flanders Flip," the TD was featured nationally as "Play of the Day No. 5" on ESPN and during the week following the game received more than 100,000 hits on YouTube.com.

Now the play has been nominated for the GEICO Play of the Year. Each week, fans vote for the GEICO Play of the Year and the winner will be announced on GEICO Best of College Football 2011 on CBS Nov. 25 at 1:30 p.m. ET.

In addition to recognizing the season's top plays, the one-hour CBS special relives the season's greatest moments, players and traditions. The show also marks the culmination of the GEICO Mobile Marketing Tour, an interactive fan experience that visits 30 marquee games throughout the football season.

In the 86th "Battle of the Piney Woods", Flanders took the handoff in the third quarter and found a seam down the right sideline. When Flanders turned the corner, he faced a SF Austin defender before the goal line but that didn't stop him. He leaped head first and the impact of the defenders hit flipped Flanders head over heels into the end zone for the score.

"When Tim came off the field, I told next time he needs to land on his feet and stick the landing," head coach Willie Fritz said. "Really it was an incredible play. Tim is such a talented athlete and has such great balance, nothing he does surprises me."

Each week for nine weeks, four incredible college football plays will be nominated as the Play of the Year on the GEICO Best of College Football Facebook page (facebook.com/BestofCollegeFootball). A panel of college football experts will evaluate the nine fan favorites and name the 2011 GEICO Play of the Year.
